Behold the "Octagram"! For FÏX8:SËD8 the number 8 is more than just another digit. When the 8 just turns by a little in the context of the German electro industrial project's sixth album, it becomes the symbol for infinity. The number 8 is also reflected in the structure of the album, which consists of 8 songs with a playing-time of 8 minutes. The new songs break out from the classic verse and chorus formula. Freshly introduced odd time signatures and polyrhythmic experiments add to the overall progressive feel this creates. "Octagram" features all the signature elements and sounds that define FÏX8:SËD8: The album is as playful, complex, and melodic as its predecessors. The drums push even a bit harder than before, while the vocals are even more diverse on "Octagram". Vocal samples consist mainly of recitations quoting the last words of persons that were about to receive the death sentence. With "Octagram", electro industrial shooting stars FÏX8:SËD8 once again push the extent of their own musical dimensions as well as the limits of the whole scene. "Octagram" is truly a groundbreaking milestone in the evolution of Martin Sane's electronic industrial darkness!
Deriving their name from the psychiatric terms "fixated/sedated", the German project founded by Martin Sane embarked on their musical journey with two self-released albums that have long been sold out and remain much sought after by collectors. The debut "humanophobia" arrived in 2006 and was produced by HAUJOBB's Daniel Myer, while the sophomore full-length "dormicum" that came out in 2009 was self-produced. FÏX8:SËD8 established their own soundscapes by continuously moving away from their musical paragons, which in the beginning were mainly Canadian cult acts such as SKINNY PUPPY and FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY. FÏX8:SËD8 came into being with the impressive concept album "humanophobia" that dared to artistically deal with one of the greatest crimes in the history of mankind. After visiting Cambodia and one of the so-called killing fields and former internment camps of the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-79) under Pol Pot, Martin Sane exorcised the haunting images of the communist genocide that killed a large part of the population through the creation of particularly dark electronic music. The music remained dark but there was also an obvious evolution expressed in a more focused songwriting and refined style when the second album "dormicum" started to circle in the electro industrial underground in 2009. With each following album reaching a new high-water mark in terms of songwriting and production, the calls for a reissue of the first two releases became continuously louder. This eventually sparked the idea of an artbook collecting both titles. Furthermore, the collaboration with PYRROLINE thought leader Arnte and his keen skills of production and mixing had already benefited "The Inevitable Relapse". This made him the obvious choice for a remaster of both first albums. Luckily, Arnte accepted the challenge and expertly executed the job. At long last, the legendary first two FÏX8:SËD8 albums will soon be available again. Get ready to return to the early days of Martin Sane's electronic industrial darkness with "humanophobia:dormicum".
With Fïx8:Sëd8, maybe one of the electronic scene's best-kept secrets has found a new home with Dependent. Through two self-released albums, Martin Sane has slowly built up the status he has with insiders of the scene - in contrast to the modern industrial of 2nd Face whose debut we released earlier this year, Fïx8:Sëd8 are classic representatives of retro electro. Utilising movie samples, intricate sequences, and mid-tempo beats, they lean towards bands such as Mentallo & The Fixer or Interlace, attending to the connoisseurs of the electro scene.
Already the very first sounds of "My Mistress" make obvious where this musical journey is heading towards. Melodic, intricate synth sequences, complex drum patterns, wobbling bass lines just like in the "good old days" as well as appealing harmonic arrangements capture the listener's imagination right from the start.
Sane's preference for the pioneers of dark electronic sounds from Canada and Texas is quite obvious; Fïx8's unique sound, however, is guaranteed by the fact that the complex arrangements are never an end unto themselves, but merely a tool in the struggle against monotony. The bottom line is always a melodic and atmospheric song that consciously needs a concentrated listening and then strongly burns into your mind. The new album is mastered by fellow musician Thorn (2nd Face), which makes "Foren6" Martin Sane's best-produced record thus far. There's also been some progress in the vocal department of Fïx8:Sëd8; they do not only use distorted vocals, but also experiment in a manner reminiscent of the multi-vocal effects of Sweden's Interlace.
Forensics, legal medicine, the science of finding out causes of death, as an analogy of failed friendships and relationships and their 'posthumous' dissection and analysis - what made a relationship come undone? Who's guilty? The listeners find themselves right in the middle of the story, sometimes as an unconcerned witness, sometimes as victim, sometimes as perpetrator.
Voice samples from the movies of John Carpenter run like a thread through the whole album. Whether it's "Baptism of Fire" with its violent bass line and its driving mid-tempo beats, the clubby "Puritan" with its playful synth melodies, or the atmospheric "Hermaphrodite" - every song is vintage Fïx8:Sëd8. Despite its many facets, "Foren6" is the band's most homogenous album to date.

After the success of his 2017 album "Foren6", Martin Sane's Electronic/Industrial project Fïx8:Sëd8 is about to outgrow his cocoon. It has the potential to become that full-fledged industrial music project that might spearhead a resurrection of the traditional electronic industrial sound formerly endorsed by cult acts like Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly or Mentallo & The Fixer in the 90ties. While we are writing this info, Sane is touring together with labelmates 2nd Face in South America (!), preparing his European touring activities to go along for what might become one of the strongest "Oldschool" electronic industrial releases in 2019: "Warning Signs".
The writing is on the wall in more than one way: Martin Sane's looks at early indications of a dystopic downturn of our peaceful societies echoes in our news almost daily. The notion of insecurity and angst starts to foster and grow in various places among the earth from North America to Europe to Southeast Asia. His new album is a soundtrack to a modern dystopic downfall that we would rather like to ignore than to face.
Musically "Warning Signs" is so oldschool, it could almost be called a "Retro Industrial" album, as it includes all the ingredients that made industrial breathtaking in the 80ies: vocal samples, complex drum programmings, and big strings mixed with structures that remind of old Skinny Puppy cultsongs like "Inquisition" or "Addiction". Like their originals, these songs need repeated listens to sink in and unfold their potential. But what amazes most is the contradiction between the theme of the album and its sound: How can something sounding so "retro" tackle problems that are so recent?
Can we afford to ignore these Warning signs?

With their fifth album "The Inevitable Relapse", their third for Dependent, Fïx8:Sëd8 are taking the final step from a band with a huge buzz to an established force within the electro industrial scene. The band's name is derived from the psychiatric terms "fixated/sedated".
"The Inevitable Relapse" may be taken as a nearly prophetical title as the album has been conceived for the most part during the global pandemic. On a musical level, mastermind Martin Sane stays true to the course, he charted with the successful predecessors "Foren6" (2017) and "Warning Signs" (2019). Under the obvious influence of Canadian cult acts such as SKINNY PUPPY and FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, the Hessian has developed his own inimitable style, which is oscillating between dark electronics and catchy passages.
Fïx8:Sëd8 have established their own soundscapes by continuously moving away from their musical paragons, which resembles the development of artistic soulmates such as MENTALLO & THE FIXER and HAUJOBB. This becomes evidently clear in the unerring songwriting as well as on production-side, which is nearly equally important in the electronic genre. The upward trend with each new album is also reflected on "The Inevitable Relapse", which is made abundantly clear by crushing tracks such as
'Prognosis' and 'Unknown to Virtue' as well as more complex and darker pieces of the 'Human Harvest' brand. On top of this, PYRROLINE thought leader Arnte has contributed with his keen skills to the production and mix.
The steady rise of Fïx8:Sëd8 is mirrored in the sold-out editions of their latest releases that were flying from the shelves before those albums even hit the stores as well as in climbing up the running orders of festivals and on the road. The state of the pandemic allowing, the Germans have already been booked by prestigious events such as the upcoming Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig and the E-Tropolis Festival.

The limited edition of "The Inevitable Relapse" contains an lavish 36-page hardcover artbook, which includes the bonus CD "Rail at a Liar". The latter features current acts such as CRYO, 2ND FACE, ANMISTIA, and MILDREDA revealing their perspective on "The Inevitable Relapse" through thrilling cover-versions. Despite the extended self-isolation during the pandemic, Martin Sane proves to be an outstanding networker motivating his fellow artist to peak performances.

With "The Inevitable Relapse", electro industrial shooting stars Fïx8:Sëd8 display a stellar sonic firework.
