Katla. is an Icelandic band featuring ex-Sólstafir drummer and visual artist Guðmundur Óli Pálmason and singer/multi-instrumentalist Einar Thorberg Guðmundsson (Fortíð, Potentiam). Named after one of Iceland's greatest active volcanos, Katla. creates ultra wide-angle, panoramic music that showcases shimmering guitars, hook-laden melodies, soaring synths and a dark, entrancing power.
While the duo's horizon-stretching sound gets its hooks in fast, and doesn't let go; the lyrics, delivered with distinctive voice and darkwave-like melancholic undercurrent, take their time seeping in, centering on both the joys and trials of living in a country of sharp contrasts. A place where fire and ice co-exist and dark winters are offset by the summer's midnight sun. A country where insular existence has spurred a rich and vibrant culture.
